NYCU’s International College of Semiconductor Technology Visits Philippine Universities to Explore Academic Collaboration

From June 9 to 10, 2025, four professors from the International College of Semiconductor Technology (ICST) at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan, visited three leading universities in the Philippines to explore academic collaboration and share insights on the future of semiconductor research and education.
The visit started at the University of the Philippines (UP) with an information session introducing NYCU and Taiwan’s advanced semiconductor ecosystem. The discussion covered possible areas for collaboration, including student exchange, research partnerships, and academic mobility programs. UP faculty and students actively participated, showing strong interest in future joint initiatives.
On June 10, the delegation visited the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) and was welcomed by the College of Engineering. A focused dialogue was held with the Dean, department chairs, and faculty members to explore potential collaborations in faculty exchange, joint research, and twinning programs. The team also conducted an info session for graduating students from Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering, presenting academic opportunities in Taiwan and trends in semiconductor industries.
Later that day, the group proceeded to the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.), where they led a session under the Worth the Talk Learning Series. The seminar, titled “Unveiling Ferroelectricity for Next-Gen Memory and Logic: From Physics to Compact Models”, was delivered by Dr. Girish Pahwa and joined by fellow professors Dr. Yen-Cheng Kuan, Dr. Sheng-Shiuan Yeh, and Dr. Artur Useinov. The session drew students from various engineering programs and sparked discussions on semiconductor innovations and research careers. T.I.P. academic leaders and administrators from both Quezon City and Manila campuses also attended, reflecting strong institutional support for international engagement.
The ICST delegation’s visit provided a platform for knowledge sharing, professional exchange, and exploration of academic collaboration across multiple levels. It also gave students and faculty alike a closer look at semiconductor developments and study pathways in Taiwan.
The ICST team sincerely thanks the University of the Philippines, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and the Technological Institute of the Philippines for their warm hospitality and active participation. The visit laid a solid foundation for future academic exchanges and collaborative initiatives.
