UIC Strengthens International Linkages with Taiwan in 2025 through Nursing, Health Tech, and Business Exchanges

In 2025, the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) in Davao City reaffirmed its commitment to global engagement through multiple collaborative activities with academic and institutional partners from Taiwan. These initiatives spanned nursing education, medical technology, and business management, enriching both student learning and institutional linkages.
On February 27, the UIC College of Nursing (UIC-CN) and the External Relations and Internationalization Office (ERIO) hosted the Global Care Nursing Exchange Program (GCNEP) 2025, bringing together esteemed international experts from Taiwan, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Among the featured speakers was Dr. Chen Mei-Yen from Taiwan, who presented on "Empowering Healthy Ageing: Community Nursing Approaches in Taiwan"—a timely and insightful topic highlighting Taiwan’s strengths in elder care and community health. The day ended with a joyful unity dance and cultural exchange, reinforcing solidarity among future nursing professionals.
Further deepening health-related academic ties, UIC welcomed delegates from Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), Taiwan, during the International Pathways in Medical Technology Mobility Exchange 2025 (I-PaMTeCH) held from May 21 to 28. In collaboration with Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia, and supported by CHED Regional Office XI, the program emphasized academic mobility and cross-border innovation in medical technology education. As part of the exchange, international guests explored marine biodiversity through a guided snorkeling and island-hopping experience in Samal Island on May 24, offering a unique perspective on environmental health and conservation.
Expanding beyond the health sciences, UIC’s Graduate School Doctor of Business Management (DBM) program embarked on its second educational tour in Taiwan from May 28 to June 2. The delegation visited National Taipei University (NTPU)—specifically its Department of Business Administration and Department of Economics—to learn about Taiwan’s academic research, sustainable business strategies, and technological integration in commerce. The tour also included exposure visits to two prominent Taiwanese companies, allowing students to witness best practices and innovation in real-world business environments.
Beyond academic engagement, the trip offered participants cultural immersion, allowing them to explore Taiwan’s historical landmarks and rich heritage, fostering a deeper appreciation of the island’s traditions and strengthening intercultural understanding.
Through these multifaceted programs, UIC continues to broaden its international footprint, enrich its academic offerings, and provide its students and faculty with transformative global experiences. Collaborations with institutions like Kaohsiung Medical University and National Taipei University not only elevate UIC’s academic reputation but also reflect the university’s enduring commitment to cultivating globally competent graduates.
